Origin Investigator

About Origin Investigator

A field-first fire investigation documentation and report-writing platform built around the scene-to-report workflow.

What OI is

Origin Investigator is designed around a simple idea: start the investigation in the field on your iPhone or iPad, enter the information once as you document the scene, and keep using that same case when you return to your desktop. Photos, observations, measurements, evidence, notes, weather, property information, hypotheses, and other investigation data stay with the case so investigators do not have to re-enter the same information into a second program just to build the report. OI carries the work from initial scene documentation through investigation review and final Word or PDF report generation.

The investigator stays in control

OI does not determine origin and cause for the investigator and does not use AI to write, rewrite, summarize, condense, or otherwise alter investigative findings, hypotheses, testing, or conclusions.

The investigator authors the investigative reasoning and narrative. OI provides the structure, documentation tools, scene records, and report assembly needed to carry that work from the scene into the final report.

From scene to report

  • Structured investigation data carries into the appropriate report sections
  • Scene diagrams can be carried into reports
  • Agency report settings and templates support department standards
  • Finished reports can be produced in Word and PDF formats

Key agency administration features

OI gives an agency control over the standards, wording, reference material, and user permissions that investigators work from.

  • Agency identity, report logo, and department branding
  • Agency-approved report wording, including closing statement, header, and footer text
  • Agency-defined report section order and report standards
  • Agency Documents for centrally managed policies, procedures, forms, and reference material
  • Agency-selected evidence labeling standard and local terminology
  • Technical Review policy configuration
  • Permanent Level 1–5 user accounts with configurable permission titles and delegated capabilities
  • User invitation, activation, disable, re-enable, permission management, and Account Owner transfer

Focused by design

Origin Investigator is intentionally a fire investigation documentation and report-writing tool, not a full enterprise case-management system. The goal is to keep the investigator's workflow simple, fast, and centered on documenting the scene and producing a defensible report.
